![]() Jackey Raye Jones was born into the art profession. Her father was a professional artist adept in many different mediums, and both her parents spent the years of her childhood in remodeling their 100 year old adobe home in El Paso, Texas. She remembers many days sitting on a stool in her father’s studio watching him paint, sculpt, or build something for the house and she enjoyed hanging out at the Community Theatre while he rehearsed, directed or performed in plays. Her own professional career began with the creation of hand painted clothing in 1985 when she established J. Raye Designs. The company focus changed in 1990 when Jackey began experimenting with paint techniques and discovered faux finishes. She enjoyed helping clients discover the essence of their style even when they weren’t able to articulate it. Her consideration of the use of space, existing furnishings and all inhabitants (including pets) earned her a following and reputation for excellence. As one client wrote, “speaking as a discriminating consumer, I believe I would be hard pressed to find anything comparable in terms of expertise, talent, service and price. In 2008, Jackey began creating art as a form of self exploration. Her paintings reveal a personal and symbolic connection to nature and the study of how contrast creates balance. Jackey says “I am finding that the more personal my work gets, the more people are drawn to it and can relate their own personal experience with it.” Jackey has been exhibiting her work is several venues over the last two years and is on target for her 2012 goals. She completed a three month exhibit with the Salem Art Collective in the Reed Opera House Downtown Salem Oct – Dec 2011. She will have approximately 30 pieces on exhibit at Crush Wine Bar in Monmouth Oregon Mid Jan-through end of Feb.
